Over the past twelve months we have been working with colleagues across the migration sector to build understanding of the barriers to mental health support experienced by asylum seekers and the wider migrant population in Birmingham. This has also involved supporting the coordination of the provision being provided to residents by third sector organisations.

We are delighted to release an insight report highlighting findings from our engagement with many of those currently resident in hotels whilst seeking asylum.

MIGRANT HEALTH NEEDS AND SERVICE ACCESS highlights the complex challenges faced by asylum seekers that have contributed to mental health challenges. It also suggests opportunities for targeted interventions that could significantly improve health and wellbeing for not only these individuals but wider migrant communities in the region.

We will be delivering a short webinar discussing the findings and next steps on Wednesday 26th March at 12:00. You can register for the event by CLICKING THIS LINK.

Many thanks to our colleague Asma Malik who has been leading on this workstream, and to Birmingham City Council for their financial support to the role.
